"If you don't know what you want, you end up with a lot you don't."
This is going to be the column that winds up in the finished product...there are some very minor scratches on the top/bottom of the housing but it's in otherwise awesome shape. The contact plate at the rear is in phenomenal condition and I can definitely appreciate the design aesthetic.
That's it for parts on the 'inbound' route for now. I may have found door panel material but I'm waiting until that's finalized and received before I get too excited about it.
No news about the body work on the car...the engine is being tuned and tweaked. I may wind up taking the plunge on the up-amperage generator/voltage regulator. It'll keep the car stock in appearance and allow me to do the wiring harness installation without a lot of modifications. It seems like the longer this takes, the more likely it is that the car will have more stock parts/stock looking parts. I'm still planning on using HID headlights and LED dash bulbs (the headlights are the reason for needing the up amperage generator). I don't plan on changing that purely from a function standpoint. The challenge with HID lights is where to hide the ballasts on the car but I'm sure I'll find a solution when the time comes.

Is this new/close to OG material for the door panels?

Yes. I was told by a contact in Germany that they have original door panel material for the early Type 3 Variant. It's in storage and has to be retrieved/cleaned and inspected. Not sure how long it's going to take but I hope it's worth the wait.
