Found the matching pop out hinge on The Samba. The knob is slightly discolored but the hinge itself is in perfect condition. I can swap out the knob with one from the other right side hinges that I have stashed away.
I'm buying a small parts lot that I found: NOS front wide 5 drums, upper trim pieces for 64/65 door, front bumper brackets, hinge rubber pieces (5 mixed sets), NOS late 65 distributor, miscellaneous grommets and various other small parts. Fortunately, I've sold almost all of it (only the front drums and the mixed hinge pieces remain).
I have yet to do anything with the pan in the garage due to the weather...both mine and the outdoors. I did find that the painter didn't get primer or paint under the jack points on the pan when surface rust appeared. I almost wish I'd just left those off of the car since I'll likely never use them and they're now a hiding place for rust. I'll have to get it cleaned out and covered before I really start building on the pan. I wish I knew when that was going to happen. I should probably just take a day off and go for it.
We started to plan for the California trip in June which is being scheduled around The Classic. I think we're going to have plenty of time to visit family and allow me to also attend the events similar to last year.
