Not every bridge wants to be crossed

I called and spoke to the owner of the Notchback...it sounds like the car has been very well taken care of for over 20 years.  I asked a few questions about known trouble areas and he couldn't remember the condition but assured me that they were likely in good shape.  It needs some typical maintenance but it seems to be well cared for and in excellent condition...which left me wondering if I'd rather buy a car without seeing it in person (and it's my second choice to a Variant), just so I'd have something to drive.

I've decided that I'm going to finish this car and when it's done, I'll buy a Notchback.  I like the idea of knowing exactly what's going into the assembly of this car and not having any surprises crop up on me years from now.

I bought a few things from the classifieds today:
This is a T34 ignition column with what appears to be a great condition turn signal arm.  My plan is to clean it up, possibly rebuild the ignition and put it up for sale.  The signal arms are somewhat hard to find, which makes this part a bit of a commodity.
There are a few parts in this lot that I can use and a few I can sell off...the goal is to get what I need out of it and turn it around.

Kind of ironic that I bought this stuff-given that I've spent several hours this past week cleaning out parts I won't need for Ferris.

A few times a week, I 'sneek' in a little time to clean and organize my parts stash...I'm always on the hunt for a newer, better way of storing and organizing my parts so that when I get around to putting the car back together, it'll be a theoretical piece of cake.
My wife looked over at me last night while I was organizing parts and said that I take 'anal' to a new level (or something to that effect).  I smiled and took it as a compliment...she knows me all too well.

I have devised a system of large totes, each with a number from 1-9, as well as smaller bins with the same numbering system (same as VW) to tell me where each part belongs.  The metal parts have VCI paper to inhibit rust.  The part numbers and descriptions help me keep inventory of what I have and where it belongs on the car...I'm convinced that it's going to help me to assemble the car faster and prevent me from buying a part I already have since I can just go out and pull the tote or bin to confirm.  It's a good system-keeping me organized (most of the time) and it prevents me from going full blown hoarder, which is a direct conflict with my personality.

It would really kick ass if we finished working on the house at around the same time I finished my car...the garage would be nice and clean (and virtually empty) since 90% of its contents are either Variant or house project related.
