When things change direction...

I went to the local show to sell off some parts-and managed to do just that-a few things sold.  As a Type 3 guy, I'm a minuscule fish in the ocean of T1 and T2 dudes in the Midwest.  I sold the wheels and tires from the 72 Squareback and a few other random parts.  Probably would have sold a lot more if it hadn't rained the entire day-the weather all but killed the attendance of the show.  I can't complain at all-I had a great time with fellow enthusiasts and sold some of the biggest parts.  I bought a pedal assembly and some NOS 3 bolt headlight rings in the event I go that route down the road.

The engine guy is nearing retirement so I have until October to decide what to do on that front.  The transmission guy I was connected to has decided to close his shop at the end of September due to health reasons.  So, I've decided to adjust my strategy to collect parts for the Winter and work on the car during the Spring/Summer.  I did connect up with a local fabricator who will put the floor pans in sometime this month and he's got a great connection for a powder coater and body shop.  You win some, you lose some, and sometimes, you learn just by being there.

Nothing has been happening with the car as of late-thus the lack of posts-as we are remodeling our family room in the house.  It's taking all of my time and money to get it done but it'll be well worth it when it's finished.  The 'cave' will be turned into a nice gathering point for our next event at the house...I suspect the car project will continue once the family room is completed.

Bought a few small parts out of Germany today-ending the quest to locate a few more hard to find parts.  They've also got outer rocker channels, meaning that I only have to find the inner parts (or have them fabricated) before I can get the body work done.
