One piece closer

I received the clamps from Germany yesterday, putting me one piece closer to a finished car.  I have this ongoing debate within that is trying to figure out if I should keep enough parts for 1car or 3 cars.  I might want to build a Notchback after the Variant is completed and as time goes by, parts get harder and harder to find.  Now may be the time to start stocking parts for it.  I've got a second ignition column that'll be built up with the first one-I was going to sell it but now I think I'm going to keep it...just in case I go down the Notchback trail.

Gerson from KlassicFab made mention of reproducing the heater channels/rockers in a forum thread on The Samba a day or two ago-saying that he'd have something mid year 2013.  That's a bit later than I'd planned to have Ferris up and about but it might be worth the wait given that I can only find them on other cars that I'd have to buy and cut up to get my parts.  If I'd known what a pain in the ass they were to find, I'd have kept the rockers from the 64 when I parted it out.

Ahhh, hindsight, you're an evil bastard.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the engine discussion goes well tomorrow and the transmission transaction happens soon.  With what I have going on at work and trying to find the right parts for the car, time is an elusive mistress.
