Jim stopped by tonight to drop off the heat exchangers that I bought in California. He took a look at the 1600 engine in the 64S and he wound up adjusting the valves while we discussed the sights and sounds of the car. He said 'why not, we're both here and it'll be fast', so that was it. The valve adjustment got rid of almost all of the ticking. The engine is really strong and once the carburetors are synchronized, I think that all will be well. I can focus on the front end - replace the fuel tank and clean/adjust the front suspension.
Once I've had a chance to drive the car a little bit, I'll determine what needs work on the engine - if anything beyond some carb adjustments.
