“Supposing is good but finding out is better.”

I got a little education today about fuel pumps for my 1500 S motor from Pedro Sainz.  The two in the left side photo on the dirty table are mine.  The right side is a NOS Brazilian pump and the left is the one that came off the 1500 S motor in question.  The body of the no name fuel pump belongs to a Type 2, according to the number stamped on the back of the pump, although it is possible that the tops were swapped.  The outlets are not totally correct (notice the difference between the tube orientation between the units in the two photos).

The right side photo is a rebuilt early Type 3 fuel pump that I just bought.  It was pure dumb luck that I found it when I did.  They don't come up very often.  I must have looked at just the right time.

The photos below shows a mostly stock engine with the correct fuel pump installed.  I *think* the top photo is of Scott's old Variant and the bottom photo is of the engine in Pedro's car.  I'm not 100% sure, however, so don't quote me on it.

So the good news is that I found the right fuel pump...and I have a few to sell in an effort to reimburse myself for what I've spent on fuel pumps.  The bad news is that I spent money on the wrong thing.

An education is costly sometimes...but it's money well spent if it doesn't get spent again.
