In the long run, most realizations take a short cut

I spoke with the fabricator yesterday about the heater channels and floor pans.  While I'd like to learn to weld, I'm not willing to learn on my KlassicFab floor pans.  Looks like pan and body may make a trip North to the shop for some fabrication and floor pans.  It's good timing because his shop is slow and it'll give me a chance to clean out the garage a bit while the car is gone.

I've been digging around on TheSamba looking for parts...just to see what pops up-not much.  I've also been looking at the cars-you know, to leave me wondering about that Notchback I want to pair up with the Variant.  It's hard to not just throw in the proverbial towel and buy a car that's back together.  I'm not sure if that's more or less nuts than rebuilding this one from the ground up.  It's a perspective thing...I just want to drive the car.

I've been looking at this car just because it's relatively close by and appears to be a decent deal-assuming that there isn't a lot of ugly hiding underneath:

Alas, while curiosity compels me to go check it out, reality has me staying on track...for now.
