Three years ago, Craig I went super early and no one was there...it was hot and the swap area was small. I talked to a few guys who had Type 3 parts but didn't find anything compelling enough to buy. As we left, people started rolling in. Okay, so the ACVW crowd isn't a bunch of early risers. Eh, I'm not really impressed, I don't think I'm coming all the way down here again...
Two years ago, Craig and I arrived a bit later in the morning (2 hours later) and a friend tells us that there were all kinds of Type 3 parts that sold about an hour before we arrived. Well, last year no one was here and this year, we came later and the stuff I was interested in was gone. Screw it, I'm not coming back...
This year (yeah, I know, I said I wasn't going back), Kelly and I went early. There was a decent number of people but nothing for me to buy. Swap space was super spread out and most of it was junk...not much for a Type 3 guy. I walked the rows three times-stopping to check out some old VW ads being sold by a chatty guy with what amounted to a two year scavenger hunt for vintage VW ads out of various magazines. I bought six ads from him.
Fast forward a month-Kelly and I are revamping the office-and the ads made it on the wall:
I decided that the lighting in the office kind of sucks (it's a new ceiling fan with candelabra bulbs) and my ability to take a decent photo under the given conditions isn't the greatest...I couldn't find a setting on my camera for 'shitty lighting' and none of the other settings yielded a better result.
Overall, I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
Now I have to get my car to look like one of those pictured.
